Markets – information, graphs and data analysis

Diamond oil gold

Kimberley Process data

The Kimberley Process (KP) is a joint governments, industry and civil society initiative to stem the flow of conflict diamonds – rough diamonds used by rebel movements to finance wars against legitimate governments.
In addition to their base website, the Kimberley Process runs another website – Kimberley Process Rough Diamond Statistics – where you can access to data concerning diamond production and international trade. You can download each year’s data, compile it, accounting for countries getting or out of the process, getting a coherent database or you can just drop us a line (we’ll be happy to send it ready for you; we’ve already done it).

USGS data

God bless America. The United States Geological Service – USGS – compiles and publishes information on mineral and mineral producing countries on a yearly basis. It’s a valuable public service, available to anyone (thanks). There may be some time lag on the available information but it is a very good place to start market research. If you are looking for information on diamonds in the USGS websites, there are two different pages:

Antwerp Diamond Index

The Antwerp Diamond Index is an indicator of five categories of polished diamond prices in the Antwerp market. The index is updated monthly. This information is not easily accessible. I have been compiling it along the years with the helpful collaboration of AWDC, the Antwerp World Diamond Center. Just drop us a line.

The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) is an industry-established foundation whose mission is to serve and support the diamond business in Belgium. Headquartered in the heart of Antwerp’s diamond district, its Board of Directors is elected directly by those who define the Antwerp Diamond Community.
